Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the revered Asantehene, has announced his intention to personally attend Sarkodie’s highly anticipated Rapperholic Concert, set for September 27, 2025, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. During a courtesy visit on Friday, July 18, at the Manhyia Palace, the rapper—real name Michael Owusu Addo—and his management formally introduced the idea of staging the iconic event in the Ashanti Region.
Expressing his enthusiasm, the Asantehene said he rarely attends public events but is eager to witness this one himself. “They don’t usually allow me to go out often, but for this one, I would like to attend and witness it myself,” he declared. He praised Sarkodie’s rise to global acclaim and affirmed his support by offering his presence at the upcoming concert.
The monarch also shared wise counsel with Sarkodie and his team, reminding them to stay humble and avoid unhealthy rivalry. “When honour comes, you will have your share,” he advised, encouraging them to keep their focus on meaningful artistic pursuits.

Traditionally, Rapperholic has been an Accra-based year-end celebration since its launch in 2012 as part of Sarkodie’s album campaign. The concert has become one of Ghana’s most celebrated annual music events, attracting thousands of Fans, creatives, and music industry players. In 2025, the show returns to Kumasi for the second time following a successful staging in the region years earlier.
Moving the event to Kumasi highlights both its artistic growth and cultural resonance within the Ashanti Region. Thousands are expected to attend, making it a landmark occasion that merges tradition and modern music culture. With the Asantehene’s personal support and attendance secured, the 2025 Rapperholic Concert is shaping up to be a historic celebration of Ghanaian entertainment and cultural heritage.
